Engagement Session

If you booked a package that includes an engagement session, this is our first step. We will work together to find a time that works to meet and capture your love. There is no timeline or deadline related to when these need to be done. People often consider what season they would like their images taken in and then we go from there. I am happy to make suggestions on location idea’s and clothing options if required.

Typical turn around for these images is 2-3 weeks, so keep this is mind if you’re hoping to use any of them for a ‘Save the Date’.

Wedding Consultation

2-3 weeks before your wedding I like to meet with you to discuss all the details of your wedding day. The discussion includes (but is not limited to) the timeline for your day, addresses for where people are getting ready, venues, family dynamics, formal photo ideas, a weather back up plan, transportation, special requests etc. I wait until closer to the date so that everything stays fresh in my head and we avoid all the last minute changes we can by having it nailed down as close to the date as we can.

Wedding Day

The big day!!

We will have already discussed all the details of your day and developed a timeline so you will know exactly what to expect for your wedding day. That being said, keep an open mind, it is not uncommon that something, usually small, may not go exactly as we planned, it doesn’t matter how detail oriented you are, it almost always happens haha. I have had a lot of experience dealing with these sorts of things and I assure you they rarely affect the guests experience of your day, or a couples overall mindset.

Typical turn around for these images is 6-8 weeks.

Wedding Timeline

Advice on managing your time effectively from a photographers perspective.

Wedding day time allocation

For the most part weddings typically run in a traditional order, but since the rise of Covid there have been many changes to what “traditional” looks like. Here are two time lines that you may use to consider what your wedding day might look like:

OPTION 1 - TRADITIONAL

1:00PM OR 2:00PM CEREMONY, 5:00PM COCKTAIL, 6:00PM RECEPTION

Depending on the package you book this is what a typical full day from the photographers perspective looks like: I usually visit the guys getting ready first thing in the morning for about 30-45 mins. It takes them about 10 mins haha but its a great dry run to ensure they have all the things they need. Afterwards they can go for lunch or undress and hang out until it is go time for the ceremony. Then I cruise over to wherever the women are getting ready for about an hour to an hour and half. Photographing details and candids while you prepare to make your way to the church!

We head to the location for the ceremony, and flow right into the family photos afterwards. Then its time for the formals with your wedding party before we head to the reception! I typically suggest 1.5-2 hours for the formal photos depending on how much travelling between locations we have to do. I am happy to suggest spots that not only compliment your style but also consider our start and end locations.

Things to consider that will affect the timing of your day: Travel time - both to and from ceremony, and between photo locations. Also the big one which gets missed ofter - whether or not you plan to do a receiving line. Depending on the amount of guest you have attending your wedding, these can take upwards of 30-45 mins. I encourage you to consider it because its nice to greet all your guests so you don’t have to worry about it quite as much at the reception but some venues have a limitation on the amount of time we can stay after the ceremony. Remember we will also still need to do the family photos there which also take about 30 mins (depending on the size of your families.

To sum that up:

  • 30-45 mins guys getting ready

  • 1-1.5 hours girls getting ready directly before leaving for ceremony

  • ceremony (length depends on service) - typically 1 or 2 pm.

  • Possible receiving line (length depends on amount of guests attending)

  • 30-45 mins family photos

  • 1.5-2 hrs Formal photos (includes travel time and 2 or 3 locations depending on timing)

  • usually 5pm cocktail

  • bridal party arrives at 5:45 for reception at 6

OPTION 2 - BECOMING A LOT MORE POPULAR!

4:00PM OR 4:30PM CEREMONY, 5:00PM COCKTAIL, 6:00PM RECEPTION

Depending on the package you book this is what a typical full day from the photographers perspective looks like, quite similar to the option above but we plan a first look before the ceremony to get most of the images out of the way ahead of time. Therefore, I visit the guys getting ready first thing in the morning for about 30-45 mins. Then I cruise over to wherever the women are getting ready for about an hour to an hour and half.

We plan our first look location, and then its time for the formals with your wedding party before we head to the ceremony! I typically suggest 1.5-2 hours for the formal photos depending on how much travelling between locations we have to do. I am happy to suggest spots that not only compliment your style but also consider our start and end locations.

We head to the location for the ceremony, and flow right into the family photos afterwards.

Things to consider that will affect the timing of your day: Travel time - both to and from ceremony, and between photo locations.

To sum that up:

  • 30-45 mins guys getting ready

  • 1-1.5 hours girls getting ready directly before leaving for first look

  • 1.5-2 hrs First look & Formal photos (includes travel time and 2 or 3 locations depending on timing)

  • ceremony (length depends on service) - typically 4pm or 4:30 pm.

  • Possible receiving line (length depends on amount of guests attending)

  • 30-45 mins family photos - these happen during the cocktail hour for the other guests. The wedding party can go straight to the cocktail hour as we will be done the formal photos as long as they are not in the immediate family photos

  • usually 5pm cocktail

  • bridal party arrives at 5:45 for reception at 6

PHOTO LOCATIONS!

PHOTO LOCATIONS!

Everyone is always really excited to talk about what locations we will be using on their wedding day.

Some couples have it all planned out, while others look for help and suggestions on idea’s. Which ever option you choose I am here to help. When choosing I urge you to consider the style of images you would like, natural vs urban, or formal vs more carefree & candid. Consider the lighting and possible weather hiccups of your locations, is it sunny, shaded, near the water where it could be more windy? Consider the aesthetic, do the colours at the locations your choosing compliment your wedding colours? Depending what season you’re getting married in, one location can look very different at different times of the year! We want to find somewhere that will create cohesiveness while not dealing with potentially harsh elements all day. It is also very important we come up with a weather back up plan, which I do with all my couples ahead of time because its best to be prepared!
